How do i start the compains quest after...

I played skyrim on the xbox 360 and i was doing the compains quest and i was at the segment where i come back from getting the witches head. i walked into the j place(by sky forge) and then the dude told me that the silver hand attacked while i was gone and they killed the old dude. i accedenty backed out of the conversation and now i can not get the quest. i tried to go to the silver hand head quarters but the guy wasnt there with me... i know what i need to do with the quest cuz i have the guid book... but the guy is just walking arround.... what do i do??

+40 karma		 Guide book?!? For Skyrim?! That's sacrilege dude.. The best segment of playing the game is for the genuine exploration and getting lost. Skyrim is one game where I think having a guide will hurt the experience rather than make it better. For the first playthrough at least.
Anyway, attempt loading a past autosave. I always have three manual save slots going too, in case I glitch, such as your experiencing. Always make redundant saves in the future bud.
